Hiatus and Rethink

Summary: I won’t be publishing any new books until the second half of the year. This will let me publish on a more consistent schedule and improve the quality of what I write.

This isn’t a decision I’m making lightly. I’ve received a bevy of feedback since releasing Emperor Awakened. Not all of it comes from a good place, but it has helped me realize how I can improve the quality of my books. Rewriting and editing takes time, however. Time that I have less of this past month.

I also want to publish on a more consistent schedule, rather than constantly missing intended publishing dates. Right now, I’m getting bogged down in editing and reediting my work based on feedback as I’ve just published. I feel this drastically improved the quality of Emperor Awakened compared to what would have been published at the start of January. On the other hand, doing this frustrates readers who want to know when the next book comes out.

The benefit of a break is that I feel I can write better books and not feel the need to scrap and rewrite so much in the next book after reach release. As such, I’ll continue writing books but won’t publish them until I have a proper backlog of books I’m satisfied are up to scratch. This should work better than with Empire Reforged, because I feel I have a better grasp of where I’ve gone wrong now and will be publishing multiple series with different approaches.

This means the continuation of Empire Reforged will take some time, although I will finish it (and probably refresh Emperor Forged’s opening). Heretic Spellblade may not even be the next book out. I won’t make any promises on how often I’ll publish once I’m back (other than it should be at least every 2 months) as my personal life has been disrupted again this past month.

I’ll continue to put up snippets of progress and content over the next few months. I may even put some worldbuilding details here, although I don’t know if anybody reads this. Otherwise, see you all in a few months.
