June Update

It’s tradition now for me to post my monthly update before the start of each month, so why stop now? A short but less grim update. I recommend reading my previous post about my current situation if you haven’t already, as I don’t really want to repeat those messages and constantly be a downer.

News:

  • I’m posting 3-5 chapters a week on Patreon of a new series until July or so. It’s an urban fantasy series with mafia wolfgirls, birdgirls, demons etc in an alternate history setting and no masquerade. It’s a lighthearted story with a strong emphasis on the character relationships. I started writing it for fun, as 2023 has been pretty shit, and people seem to like it.
It’ll be at couple of months minimum before it hits Amazon, and I plan to always have extra chapters on Patreon. So check it out there if you’re interested.

  • Heretic Spellblade 6 & 7 will still release around August and September. Chapters likely won’t start going up on Patreon until July.

  • No audio news.

To summarize, I’m on a bit of a “publishing break” while I work on some books, but I’m still working away. Amazon more or less banished me to the shadow realm in terms of sales shortly after Neural Wraith 3 came out, so I’m taking the opportunity to just write and try to enjoy it. As I mentioned last time, I can only really afford to take a break like this because of the fantastic people supporting me on Patreon, so a huge thanks to all of you (and everyone else who reads and buys my books as well).

For those worried about the new series, it’s intended to be a fun series for me to write in between my heavier stuff. Neural Wraith turned out more complicated than I expected (mysteries are hard - probably why everybody else refuses to write them in the genre) and Amazon hates it, so I’m enjoying something simple and fun that can be written when I’m not up for epic fantasy. Especially now, when I’ve been questioning being in the genre at all.

See you in a month, unless I get some surprise audio news.
